April 14, 2001

The next chase on April 14th took us to SW Oklahoma west of Lawton.  As we were headed to Altus, a tornado warning was issued for Kiowa county.   We headed north on 183 to Roosevelt.  It was so hazy we couldn't even see the cell until we were right up to it.  We went about 1 mile north of Roosevelt and there we could see the circulation.  Scud was rapidly flowing into the circulation.  A beaver's tail formed over our heads as we watched the inflow increase.  It appeared the circulation was sheared apart, with one cell headed east and another core to the west.  Nothing much else happened with these storms.  We headed west to Altus to wait for more, but nothing else could get going.
